Search the Gillespie County Court Docket

A Gillespie County court docket search begins by identifying the court that has the case. District, county, justice, and Fredericksburg municipal matters do not share one clerk or one complete calendar. To search the Gillespie County court docket, start with the official Courts & Justice page, then use Tyler, re:SearchTX, or the responsible clerk. A docket can show filings, settings, orders, and disposition activity, but a calendar notice is not the complete file and a missing online result does not prove that no case exists.

Two Gillespie County Docket Search Systems

Two different systems may hold the Gillespie County court docket you want. One is the local Tyler portal. The other is re:SearchTX. They serve different purposes rather than copying each other. Start with the county system for the locally described categories. re:SearchTX is the statewide option. It requires registration first. Its official guide walks through Cases or Hearings searches, Advanced Search, sorting, export, party, attorney, and judge wildcards, plus case-detail pages. Some public documents must be purchased, and confidential material stays restricted no matter what.

Why two doors? A statewide initiative directed district and county clerks to tie their local systems into re:SearchTX. The deadline was November 1, 2025. So one Gillespie County docket may now be reachable through both the local and the state service. Coverage is not promised to be complete. If a search comes up empty, try the second system, then contact the clerk's office.

What a Court Docket Shows

Think of a Gillespie County court docket as a procedural record. It is not a story of the case. Local materials use both "case number" and "cause number." Treat them as the same thing. A single docket can hold pleadings, motions, notices, orders, settings, resets, judgments, or dispositions. Field labels vary by system. So read the official result in front of you instead of assuming a generic layout.

Case or Cause NumberThe court identifier that distinguishes similar names.
Parties / Case StyleThe caption naming parties or the proceeding.
Docket EntriesPublicly available filings, motions, notices, and orders.
SettingsA scheduled proceeding that may later move.
Court & JudgeThe court level and associated judicial officer.
DispositionRecorded outcome or status, read with judgment and later entries.

Gillespie County Calendar Notices Are Not Dockets

The county's CivicEngage calendar comes with selection, search, past-event, print, notification, and iCalendar controls. It works well for notices. But it is not presented as a complete case list. One example: a July 15, 2026 County Court at Law criminal docket event was cancelled for weather, and the notice said reset notices would issue by week's end. The replacement date itself did not appear there right away.

A posted setting can move. Check the case entry and signed order, then contact the clerk or coordinator. A cancellation without a new date is not a dismissal.

Which Courts Keep Dockets

Gillespie County runs several courts. There is the 216th Judicial District Court, a constitutional County Court, one statutory County Court at Law, four Justice of the Peace precincts, and the Fredericksburg Municipal Court. The court type decides both jurisdiction and which clerk holds the record.

The 216th Gillespie County District Docket

The 216th Judicial District covers Bandera, Gillespie, Kendall, and Kerr Counties. Gillespie's District Clerk keeps the local pleadings in Fredericksburg. The judge's primary office and administration sit in Kerrville. Local rules say the judge sits in Gillespie one week each month. So name the court and the cause number when you request a date. The state directory places the district court's main judicial office at the Kerr County Courthouse. The address is 700 Main Street in Kerrville. The local record counter stays at the Gillespie County Courthouse. A caller should say the matter is a Gillespie cause. Do not just ask for the "216th docket."

For 2026, the criminal order can schedule arraignment, pretrial, announcement, disposition or status, and trial deadlines. An Article 28.01 hearing is on that list too. It folds in a standing docket-control order and adds notice duties. Motions under the cited local Article 28.01 notice are due at least fourteen days before that hearing. Evidentiary motions carry a seven-day notice rule. Trial motions may face a ten-day deadline once a case is on the trial docket. These are procedural rules, not legal advice for any one case. The sequence helps you read docket entries. It does not promise that every case looks the same. Nor does it promise that every deadline can be computed from a public portal alone.

Finding Court Dates and Settings

Get your date from the docket entry. A signed setting notice also works. Do not rely on a general calendar event. County Court at Law rules put real steps on the requester. You obtain the date. You consult the other side for an agreed setting. Then you make sure the coordinator receives the order. Until then, it is not on the docket. Resets, weather, and emergency orders can all change the time or location of a hearing.

The Gillespie County court calendar page lays out the full workflow. Before you travel, confirm the court, date, time, room, and format. County pages and older PDFs do not always agree.

Gillespie County Courthouse and Clerk Counters

Most of Gillespie County's court operations sit in the historic courthouse. The address is 101 W Main Street. The County Clerk works from Room 109, Mail Unit 13. The District Clerk is in Room 204, Mail Unit 3. County Court at Law business runs through Room 208, though some requests go to B-105 instead. Confirm the right counter before you head over. County Clerk windows are open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m.–4 p.m. The District Clerk's current page posts 9 a.m.–4 p.m. An older setting-rules PDF lists different hours plus a 3:30 p.m. filing-deposit cutoff. But the live office page and a same-day phone call should govern your plans.

The four Justice Courts share Annex 1 at 125 W Main. The building is a 1940 New Deal post office. Precinct 1 sits downstairs. Precincts 2–4 use Suite 140. General windows run Monday through Friday, 9 a.m.–4 p.m., though each judge's availability differs. Picking the right precinct matters for evictions. The case must be filed where the property sits. JP1 guidance warns that staff cannot choose a precinct for you. A wrong-precinct filing can be rejected. Bring the address, citation, or case papers so the directory can route your docket search correctly.

Public Access to Dockets

Texas treats judicial records differently from ordinary agency records. Government Code Section 552.0035 hands judiciary information over to Supreme Court rules and other law. Rule 12 covers judicial records outside the adjudicative files. Access to a case itself turns on statutes, court rules, common law, and standing orders. Go through the official system and the clerk who keeps the Gillespie County court docket.

Key Rules:

Government Code §552.0035: judiciary access follows judicial rules and law.

Rule 12: supplies a framework for covered judicial records.

Rules 21c and 76a: address sensitive data and civil sealing.

Family Code Chapter 58: restricts juvenile records.

Privacy Limits on Gillespie County Dockets

Rule 21c shields sensitive data in covered filings. That includes Social Security, passport, driver-license, financial-account, and tax numbers. Birth dates, home addresses, and minors' names are covered too. Rule 76a presumes civil court records open. It allows sealing when a demanding, narrowly tailored standard is met. Juvenile and family materials carry added limits.

So a sealed, restricted, expunged, or nondisclosed item may simply not appear. A missing image can reflect the law rather than a broken docket search. A name match is never identity verification. A charge is never proof of guilt. Confirm the court, case number, style, dates, disposition, and judgment before drawing conclusions.

The Clerk and Docket Records

The County Clerk holds several sets of records. These cover the constitutional County Court, non-family County Court at Law, probate, land, and related official records. Since September 1, 2015, staff have not run general-public probate or criminal searches. Use the site or search in person. The District Clerk keeps District Court pleadings and applicable family matters. Copy requests can go to districtclerk@gillespiecounty.org, allowing up to three business days.

When Gillespie County Docket Search Is Unavailable

The Tyler portal can turn visitors away. Some get an HTTP 403 error or a login screen instead of a Gillespie County docket search. The portal's public page shows that condition, though it does not prove permanent closure.

Fall back to the county landing page, then re:SearchTX. If neither works, contact the clerk with a name, approximate year, case type, and cause number. The county does not advertise a free courthouse kiosk, so ask before assuming one exists.

Gillespie County Court Docket Activity

Office of Court Administration FY2024 reporting adds context but names no cases. Gillespie's district civil row counted 213 at the start. It added 187, disposed 158, left 3 inactive, and ended at 203. The family row counted 420 at the start. It saw 1 reactivated, 102 added, 84 disposed, 1 inactive, and 73 at year-end. Fiscal 2024 ran from September 1, 2023 through August 31, 2024. Compare those totals against a calendar year only with adjustment.

These are administration totals, not findings about people, legal merits, money claimed, or outcomes. "Added" does not mean a judgment. "Disposed" does not say whether a claim was tried, dismissed, settled, or resolved another way. Even a disposed matter can see later enforcement or post-judgment activity. The OCA Court Activity Database offers a newer trend query. The annual report holds a stable fiscal-year snapshot. For one case, consult the live Gillespie County court docket.

Court Dockets by City in Gillespie County

Fredericksburg is the county seat and the only incorporated city in the county plan. Doss, Harper, Stonewall, Tierra Linda, and Willow City are unincorporated, so none has a municipal court to invent. City citations start with Fredericksburg Municipal Court. Higher matters route to justice, county, or district court.

The municipal clerk posts no standalone city-name or case-number lookup. The clerk is the docket contact; AllPaid handles payments, not case discovery.

Confirming a Gillespie County Docket Match

A careful match uses more than a name. Compare the court name, case or cause number, case style, filing year, and the sequence of dated entries in the docket. In a civil file, plaintiff, defendant, petitioner, and respondent name procedural roles, not winners. In a criminal file, an indictment, information, complaint, charge, plea, bond entry, or capias each records a distinct procedural event. Only the official disposition and judgment establish the recorded result.

Setting
A scheduled hearing, trial, or docket date that can be reset.
Continuance
An order or entry moving a proceeding; it is not a dismissal.
Docket-control order
A schedule governing deadlines and settings, including the standing order referenced by the 216th District Court.
Certified copy
A clerk-certified reproduction carrying the required certification or seal, distinct from a downloaded image.

An abbreviation you don't know shouldn't be expanded by guesswork. The live Gillespie County docket display has to back up any reading before you rely on it. A quick call to the clerk settles it, since docket shorthand may be nothing more than calendar notes rather than a filed and signed order.
